hotel pet policy

If you don’t want to send your dog to a hotel for dogs (for whatever reason), the other option you have is bringing your dog on your travels and trips with you.  The most important thing you need to do if you decide on this option is check the hotel pet policy in advance of your trip – not all hotels allow dogs to stay in their rooms, and you certainly don’t want to show up and have to smuggle your pooch in – that could get you both kicked out!

The good news is that there are some human hotels whose pet policy gladly and willingly allows dogs to stay in their rooms as well, although some may charge a small fee.  Many have specific pet policies you’ll want to review prior to your visit.  Below are a listing of some of the best known chains and their hotel pet policies…be sure to call ahead of time to see if there are any changes to the policy and ensure pets are welcome in the specific hotel you are going to.

Pet Policies at hotel chains

The pet policy says a small pet fee of $10 is required for any pet that stays. Additionally, only small pets are welcome – typically those weighing 30 pounds or less. Check the hotel’s website for additional details.

Holiday Inn
Not all locations, but many of the locations at the Holiday Inn have a pet friendly policy. You’ll definitely want to check with your specific hotel to see if they accept pets as it is on a hotel by hotel basis…if not, don’t get discouraged, check a neighboring Holiday Inn down the road – they just might accept pets.

Homestead Studio Suites
Both dogs and cats are welcome at this hotel, although the website says one pet per guest room. A $25 fee is charged for each night and is considered a “cleaning fee” for your pet

La Quinta
Pet policy says that pets are welcome at these hotels, no fee or deposit required.

Motel 6
Pets stay free at this hotel chain! Yeah!! And many traveleres traveling with their pets stay here just because of this. (Be advised though that at the Studio 6 line of hotels there is a $10 charge per night for pets). No weight limit is listed on their website. They do require pets not be left unattended.

Red Roof Inn
Pet policy says that no additional charges or fees for pets that stay with you in this hotel. One pet allowed per guest, don’t leave your pet unattended, and keep them on a leash.

W Hotels
Pets welcome and they even get a little welcome packet with treats! The concierge also offers dog-sitting, dog-walking and dog-grooming services. These services come at a price… a $100 non-refundable cleaning fee in addition to a $25 per day fee is charged per pet. Pets must also weigh no more than 40 pounds.
